The Solution Design

• Use top-up insulation around loft perimeter
• Use extruded polystyrene insulation beneath loft boards
• Install loft lights with pull cord switch for easy reach when entering loft

The Work Involved

• Lay polystyrene board insulation on top and perpendicular to joists in central area
• Install loft boards to centre section of loft and screw through to joists
• Lay 'top-up' insulation rolls to perimeter of loft space, to parts not boarded, on top of any existing insulation where already fitted
• Install 2 lights and pull-cord switch
• Remove redundant tank and overflow pipe dropping into bathroom and make good the ceiling
• Install Loft Ladder and make adjustments to loft hatch for hinging and insulation
• Clear, tidy and remove all waste
