• Replace worn light fittings and simplify overall installation
• Simplify control of heating and hot water to prevent settings being changed
• Reduce impact on neighbours

• Project must be completed within agreed timescales to minimise disruption
• All new installations to be made 'on surface' to minimise dust/debris
• Remove redundant items such as bathroom heater and outside floodlights

The Work Involved

• Replace 1950s fuse board with modern consumer unit and relocate to accessible position
• Improve earth arrangements
• Move central heating controls to prevent accidental changes and replace thermostat to restrict min/max range
• Replace all heat damaged ceiling pendants and light switches
• Install motion sensors with timers on all lighting circuits
• Install mains powered and linked smoke and heat alarms
• Remove redundant appliances from bathroom and outside of property
• Replace kitchen, bathroom and garage lights with modern energy efficient fittings
• Install time switch operated circuit for kitchen radio
• Place previously exposed kitchen cables in to conduit
• Re-wire garage and provide dedicated supply via catenary wire
• Clean and remove all waste

 The Solution Design

• All lighting can be operated normally by occupant but will also turn off automatically if room is left unoccupied
• Frequently used radio can be operated only during the daytime
• All light fittings upgraded for energy efficiency
• Other updates to prevent accidents and increase safety in the home
